Dads' Night 1999: 55 And Still Alive

Welcome to all our families and friends to the 55th annual Dads' Night show.

You will soon experience the culmination of the hard work by all the men. Some are experienced Dads' Night "experts" and others; novices, but in either case none are professional actors or musicians.

It is hard to believe that Dads' Night began back in 1944 in the midst of the second world war. And equally impressive is that it has continued and expanded with each successive year. No wonder it has grown into a proud Ridgewood tradition. Our fore "fathers" started Dads' Night with the dual purpose of providing an opportunity for fathers to meet socially and to raise funds to supplement the financial shortfalls for their children's school. Our "graduates" enjoy a special camaraderie that goes much deeper than mere acquaintance and often lasts well beyond their active involvement in Dads' Night. But most important is the amazement, joy, and pride that we see in our childrens' faces.

The money you so generously give during our show performances, combined with the revenues from our program advertisers and other sponsors has enabled Dads' Night to raise significant funds for use by the Somerville and Hawes schools. It is important to note that the show production costs are entirely self funded. We give 100% of the proceeds raised to the schools for our children.

We applaud our advertisers that have and continue to support this tradition and we encourage you to patronize them and to mention their Dads' Night ad. We thank you; our audience; for taking the time from your busy schedules to support the "Dads". We apologize to our children for not reading to them or tucking them in on Thursday nights. Lastly, we thank our wives, for without their support and understanding we would not be able to present this show.
